What to See on the Marcahuasi Plateau

The Marcahuasi plateau covers about 4 square kilometers at 4,000 meters above sea level. It holds massive granite sculptures carved by natural erosion and ancient funerary structures.

Once you finish the 2 to 4-hour hike from San Pedro de Casta, you reach the main plateau. Visitors spend hours walking the winding trails between massive rock clusters and ancient ruins.

You will need a map from the town's tourism office to locate all the named formations. The plateau has no garbage facilities, so you must pack out all your trash as you explore.
